President John Evans Atta Mills has personally apologised to former President J.A. Kufuor and the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Woode on phone for not recognising their presence at the parliament house on Thursday when he presented State of the Nation's Address.
Sources close to the presidency revealed that President Mills, after apologizing to the two important personalities at a press briefing with the press corps minutes after the address, called to apologise for not recognising their presence in the salutation to his address.
The Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho confirmed the apology to Adom News.
Since the incident occurred at the parliament house on Thursday, many reasons have been adduced to the president's actions.
Some members of the minority described the president’s refusal to acknowledge the presence of two personalities as deliberate.
However some National Democratic Congress functionaries have defended the president’s action saying that it was an oversight.
Meanwhile, Koku Anyidoho told Adom News that President Mills is a man of peace that is why he called the two important personalities to halt the accusations and counter accusations making the rounds.
