The Cranes coach has assured that financial constraints will not put a dent in their ambitions for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations

Uganda coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic is unhappy with the team’s current financial difficulties ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Gabon, but claims they remain motivated.

The Cranes, who are set to return to the Afcon after 38 years, have already opened camp following the naming of a provisional 40-man squad.

In Gabon, the East Africans will play in Group D, alongside Ghana, Egypt and Mali.

“Not everyone that will enter the [final] 23 [players for the tournament] will take us to complete this journey, but everyone is important to this journey,” Sredojevic was quoted as saying by The Daily Monitor.

“The job in front of us is clear. All 15 countries at the Africa Cup of Nations have financial and other issues settled.

"With us, we are struggling with a million things, with training camps abroad and other logistics still not in place.

“For us, [and for] what we can offer, we need to be the most motivated team at the Nations Cup.

"If you are not motivated by not having enough, then I don’t know what motivates you. With us, there is no way to look back.

“For them [Uganda’s opponents], with or without Afcon, they can survive. For you, it’s everything.”

The Cranes will open their campaign against Ghana on January 17, before taking on Egypt and Mali on January 21 and 25 respectively.

Uganda have announced pre-tournament friendlies against Cote d'Ivoire, Slovakia, Gabon, Libya and Tunisia.
