Edinaman Senior High School has qualified for the 2026 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) national championship after recording the highest score on the opening day of the Central Regional Qualifiers.
The Edina-based school delivered a commanding performance in Contest Two, amassing 71 points to secure an emphatic victory over Mando SHS, Nyankumase SHS and Eguafo Abrem SHS.
Edinaman controlled the contest from the opening round, steadily increasing its lead with strong performances in the Problem of the Day, True or False and Speed Race segments before sealing victory with a composed display in the riddle round.
At the end of the contest, the scores stood at:
- Edinaman SHS – 71 points
- Mando SHS – 22 points
- Nyankumase SHS – 21 points
- Eguafo Abrem SHS – 10 points
The 71-point tally was the highest recorded by any school on the first day of the Central Regional Qualifiers, reinforcing Edinaman's credentials as one of the region's strongest contenders heading into the national championship.
The victory also makes Edinaman the latest school from the Central Region to secure a place at the 2026 nationals, joining Mfantsiman Girls' Senior High School, which booked the region's first qualification slot earlier in the day.
With more contests scheduled in the coming days, schools across the Central Region will continue battling for the remaining qualification places in Ghana's premier science and mathematics competition.
