First Allied Savings and Loans Limited has donated assorted items to the Kumasi Central Prison valued at GHC20,000.
The donation, made on Christmas eve was part of activities marking the 20th anniversary of First Allied Savings and Loans.
The items presented to the prison inmates included; bags of rice, toiletries, sanitary pads, packs of sachet water, cooking oil, vegetables among other things.
Presenting the items, Head of Marketing and HR of the financial institution, Augustine Amakye Ansah, said the gesture was part of the company's social responsibility to help the needy and to help them make meaning of Christmas.
"Since it's Christmas we deem it fit to come and visit our brothers and sisters who are behind the walls and are not able to come home and enjoy with us.
There are certain things that the government cannot do by itself, so as an institution it is our social responsibility to help the needy," Mr Amakye said.
He said the presentation adds to the number of donations the company has already made to institutions such as Kumasi Children's Home in the year as part of activities to mark the year-long anniversary celebration.
Second in Command at the Kumasi Female Prisons, CSP Yayra Ashong-Mettle, received the items on behalf of the prison inmates.
She expressed appreciation on behalf of the inmates and called on the benevolent society to emulate what First Allied has done.
"We are grateful this morning to you for what you have done. We promise to put these items to good use. And we hope more companies can do same because we need a lot of help here," she said.
First Allied Savings and Loans Limited, established in September 1996, is one of the fastest-growing and most credible Non-Bank Financial Institutions with over 25 branches dotted across the country.
The bank has won World Bank Award for being the first financial institution to introduce the "susu" concept to mainstream banking.
Mr Amakye, however, promised better banking services for its loyal customers in 2017.
