It’s time up for Brazil to own up for sins against Ghana. So says Ghana’s Under-17 coach Sellas Tetteh in a phone interview with Joy Sports ahead of his team’s titanic clash with the marauding Brazilians. The Starlets must beat their Brazilian counterparts at Gwangyangon on Wednesday to advance to the Quarter final stage of the on-going World Under-17 tournament in Korea, and coach Tetteh believes part of the motivation for his boys is the humiliation the Brazilian senior team handed the Black Stars at the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The Black Stars packed out of Germany 2006 with a devastating 3:0 whipping by the Brazilians at the Second Round and according to the Starlets coach, Wednesday’s encounter, apart from serving a steady progression to the ultimate diadem, is also an image-repair assignment for the nation.“We are there to win and this game is also like a replica of what happened in 2006 in the senior World Cup and we have to try and avenge that defeat and that is exactly what we are preparing for.”Sellas Tetteh has a handicap though, for two of his dependable players; Philip Boampong and Enoch Adu will miss the Brazil game owing to accumulated cards, however, he told Joy Sports Elloeny Amande that the team was all psyched up for victory. He described the team’s three games so far as very thrilling, insisting that his boys ‘are ready to go all out’ and would not be complacent about claims from connoisseurs that the Starlets are the most entertaining side in the tournament and the team to beat. The Starlets beat Trinidad and Tobago 4:1, lost 3:2 to Germany before accounting for Colombia 2:1 to qualify for the Group of 16.Brazil on the other hand walloped New Zealand 7:0, beat Korea DPR 6:1 before losing their final group game to England by 2:1.
