The Black Starlets of Ghana on Wednesday proved themselves better dancers of ‘Samba’ than Brazil as they booted the South Americans out of the on-going FIFA World Under-17 football tournament to qualify for the Quarter Final Stage.
Looking rather uncoordinated and forced to endure the entire second half plus 6 minutes of time added on with 10 men, the Starlets handed their opponents a rather bitter defeat from the boot of Isaac Donkor in the opening minutes of the second half and to send football fans in Accra onto the streets with wild jubilation.
With a huge disadvantage, following Francis Boadi’s expulsion just before the break, the Starlets rose to the challenge and played well enough to be credited with 49 percent of possession; plus they squandered the more glorious of opportunities.
Starlets’ hit man and skipper, Ransford Osei was just unlucky to add to his four goals as his well-directed header from inside the Brazilian goal area just whisked past the post.
