Asante Kotoko have parted ways with five senior team players, the club’s communications director Obed Acheampong has confirmed.
The MTN FA Cup holders have released the players including veteran goalkeeper Isaac Amoako and striker Kwame Boateng.
Other affected players are defenders Evans Quao, Atta Kusi and attacker Emmanuel Osei Carlos, who was brought in last season.
The affected players were notified of the changes via a letter informing them that the club will not require their services.
Obed also revealed the club is already in the market searching for players to strengthen their squad for next season, which they will be competing in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“Coach Pollack requested for some players to beef up the squad ahead of the season but we are yet to acquire any of them for him. We should sign new players very soon,” he said.
Asante Kotoko finished fifth on the league log in the 2016/2017 season and beat archrivals Hearts of Oak to win the MTN FA Cup.
