President John Mills has condemned the pockets of violence in the ongoing biometric registration exercise.
Some polling stations across the country have witnessed violence with the two leading political parties hurling insults and allegations against each other.
Some of the hotspots in the country include Odododiodio, Tafo Pankrono in the Ashanti Region where the District Police Commander Superintendent Kwesi Ofori has been accused by the National Democratic Congress of unprofessional conduct.
In the Ashanti Region an agent said to be with the ruling party accidentally shot a 12 year old boy but handed himself to the police.
The incessant violence across the country has led to the beefing up of security across the various polling areas.
On Thursday, president John Mills took his turn to register at the Golden Gate Centre polling station at the Regimanuel Grey Estate in Accra and could not hide his displeasure about the violence that has characterized the process in parts of the country.
He told newsmen after his registration process such violence is counter productive and urged such miscreants to desist from it.
President Mills said violence is not the route to leadership, insisting the power to select a leader rests with the people.
He also admonished his appointees and the party as a whole not to be complacent, urging them to work hard in order to be retained in office.
