Despite national efforts to end the worrying trend of child marriage, the practice is still rampant in the Krachi East District of the Volta Region.
Efforts to stem the practice is facing a cultural resistance and has become a source of concern for state authorities and organizations such as World Vision International.
At an event to launch of ‘End Child Marriage Now’, a campaign to fight child marriage in the District, World Vision International’s Edward Owulah appealed to politicians and state authorities to partner with the organization fight the practice.

He challenged other stakeholders including the Birth and Deaths Registry, security agencies and the media to join the campaign.
