Mary Star of the Sea International School, a private basic education institution located at Amanfro near Kasoa in the Ga South Municipality, has donated assorted food items and detergents to the Rhema Shalom Village, a Christian charity and reformation centre.
The donation of the items, which include bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, provisions, cartons of soft drink, milk, biscuits, toilet rolls and used clothes, was in a fulfilment of a promise made when Rhema officials visited the school early this year.
The school also presented GHS1500.00 cash to the reformation centre to be used for sporting activities and to purchase essential items.
The headmistress of the Mary Star of the Sea International School, Madam Mary Ekenlebie, said her school has instituted a charity program to support the less privileged in the society.
She said her school's management is committed to supporting the needy even with limited resources.
The private school boasts of the establishment of Japanese Cultural Exchange Centre which provides opportunities to Ghanaian students aspiring to pursue various Japanese exchange programs.
Director of the reformation centre, Pascal Tamakloe, thanked the school for the gesture and appealed for more support from corporate bodies and other institutions.
According to Mr Tamakloe, some relief items sent to the school by donor partners have been locked up at the Tema Habour over minor administrative issues.
He said the inability to clear the donations from the harbour is impeding care for the inmates of reformation centre.
