Human Rights advocacy group, Youth for Human Rights Africa (YoHRA) has welcomed the setting aside of a ban placed on Human Rights lawyer, Francis Sosu.

YoHRA in a statement Wednesday lauded the judge who quashed the ban; saying that the ban itself lacked "legal force".

"We wish to congratulate the Human Rights Court...for upholding and giving meaning to rule of law and reposing confidence in the Judicial process..." the statement said.

The statement also congratulated Mr Sosu for pursuing justice and getting his ban lifted.

The Advocacy office of the Youth for Human Rights Africa has learnt with relief the lifting of a 3-year ban placed on the renowned human rights and public interest lawyer, Francis Sosu.

YoHRA, like other human rights and civil society groups condemned the said ban a little over a year ago for its harshness and lack of legal force.

The said ban lacked the fine ingredients warranting the ban and was criticized by all well-meaning persons especially the most vulnerable citizens in society whom he had represented at different levels in his quest to seek justice for them and promote fundamental rights and freedoms as guaranteed in the 1992 constitution of Ghana and other local and international human rights instruments.

We wish to congratulate the Human Rights court, presided over by her Ladyship, Justice Gifty Agyei-Addo for upholding and giving meaning to rule of law and reposing confidence in the Judicial process in her landmark ruling that the charges of "touting and personal advertisement as grave misconduct" were not in accordance with law.

We also wish to congratulate the celebrated global human rights ambassador and activist, Francis-Xavier Sosu for pursuing the cause of justice in helping consolidate our legal jurisprudence.
