A devastating fire has ravaged several residential buildings in a densely populated Bomso suburb in Kumasi.
The blaze originated in a single-room apartment and rapidly spread to other rooms.
According to victims and eyewitnesses, the fire was fuelled by an explosion from an electricity meter, which they believe sparked the inferno.
The fire engulfed at least fifty rooms, leaving a trail of destroyed valuables.

The tightly clamped houses in the Bomso community, characterised by poorly constructed structures with visible cracks and weak foundations, contributed to the fire’s rapid spread.
Valuables, including refrigerators, kitchen utensils, electrical appliances, and personal belongings worth thousands of cedis, have been lost in the fire disaster.
Distressed victims gave heartbreaking accounts of losing everything, with many unable to salvage any possessions due to the fire’s intensity.

Crowds gathered at the fire scene as fire personnel made efforts to contain the blaze.
DO2 Appiah Anthony says the cramped layout of the houses severely restricted access, which complicated efforts to control the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with the fire service stating that no conclusive assessment has been made.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Oforikrom, Anwel Sadat Ahmed, assured residents that the local assembly would collaborate closely with the fire service to fully investigate the incident.
He also pledged immediate relief efforts, promising to work with relevant agencies to provide support and essential supplies to the displaced victims.
