As part of their spiritual preparations towards the forth-coming division one national middle, the management of national division one middle league campaigners, Cape Coast Mysterious Abusua Dwarfs, on Friday presented items worth about GH₵4,000 and a cash donation of two GH₵2,000 to the inmates at the Osu Children’s Home, Accra.
Making the presentation, the Chief Executive Officer of Abusua Dwarfs, Edward Nana Aidoo, reiterated the belief that there is more blessing in giving than in receiving, and therefore saw the plight of the inmates as something that has touched his heart for years now.
He said Abusua Dwarfs is a community-based and traditionally-owned club and therefore needed to embark on this philanthropic exercise to win the hearts of the football loving populace who have supported the club through thick and thin before reaching this state to compete in the forth-coming national division one league.
"As we start the middle league tomorrow, we need to reach out and seek the prayers of all concerned, especially fans, supporters and sympathizers of Abusua Dwarfs to support the team in diverse ways to helping them to qualify to the premier division this year,” he indicated.
He further stressed that Abusua Dwarfs are not a first division team, and therefore pledged to do his best possible to help the team by bringing them to where they belong through qualification to the 2010/2011 premier league.
The management, technical team and the entire playing body were there to grace the occasion with their presence, and inmates could not help but to join the players in a spectacular "jama" session.
The caretaker of the Osu Childrens’ Home, who received the items on behalf of the inmates, thanked the management, technical team and the entire playing body for their kind gesture and promised to remember them in prayers as they go to the battle field tomorrow.
Abusua Dwarfs is scheduled to play against West Ham United at the Tema Sports Stadium on Saturday, before playing against Prestea Mine Stars on Thursday at the Ohene Gyan Stadium, Accra and finally accounting for Medeama FC in their last Zonal match on Sunday at the same venue.
