Academic City University has celebrated its first cohort of graduates from the pioneering undergraduate programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show, Engineer Dr. Lucy Agyapong, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Academic City, emphasised the university’s practical and hands-on teaching approach.
“At Academic City, it’s not just about theory,” she explained. “More importantly, it’s about how you fuse what you have learnt in the classroom and actually use it to solve problems.”
She added that Academic City is a well-rounded institution where innovative technology and a forward-thinking mindset are applied daily.
“It’s this innovative mindset that sets us apart,” Dr Agyapong said.
Among the first graduates is Eyram Kudjoe Akligoe, who shared his personal journey into artificial intelligence.
“Initially, I had a passion for technology, especially computers that was my initial drive,” he said.
“The curiosity about how these technologies solve problems pushed me further. When I first came across the term machine learning and AI, I was a bit confused honestly, I didn’t know what it was about. The journey was good, and I’m grateful for the opportunity I had in learning AI,” he shared.
Another graduate, Levi Yaw Sudi, recounted how his childhood fascination with futuristic films inspired his pursuit of robotics engineering.
“Growing up, we used to watch movies with flying cars and heroes like Iron Man, which sparked my interest,” he explained.
“When I heard of the opportunity to study robotics, I thought, ‘This is what I want to do.’ It has been a great experience; I’ve learnt a lot and built projects I’m proud of,” he said.
