As part of efforts to improve ACCA results in the country,the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) has partnered with some universities in the country to align their syllabuses with the relevant ACCA papers.
The collaboration is also to provide tuition support to improve the to get many business students from the universities to enroll and complete their ACCA courses within a short time.
The Chairman of the ACCA Ghana Network Panel, Thomas Mensah Abobi announced this at the 14th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Accra.
According to Mr. Abobi, much resources and efforts are being directed towards tuition to improve the results of the ACCA examination in the country.
He said ACCA has held seminars in nine public and private universities across the country to recruit quality students who are capable of going through the entire process of membership.
The ACCA Ghana Network Panel Chairman stressed the need for Ghana to be able to provide qualified accountants who would rock shoulders with their counterparts on the world stage.
Mr. Abobi underscored ACCA commitment to work assiduously to raise the standards of accountancy in the country.
Also, Country Director of ACCA Ghana, Norman Williams at the AGM revealed that the association has introduced online registration and examination service which is live all year round.
This service he said offered exclusively by ACCA has no deadline hence students can benefit from a range of online services when making initial applications or examination entries at their own convenience.
Mr. Williams added that the online system also make it easier for students to pay their exams, registration and their annual subscription fees in local currency without the need to raise a bank drafts in UK pounds sterling.
He stated the online examination provides instant result which gives students an opportunity to know their fate and get ample time to prepare if they need to re-sit a paper.
Mr. William was optimistic that the new system would encourage more business students who want to charter to take the ACCA exams.
Other activities at the AGM were the presentation of 2011/2012 end of year report, approval of previous minutes and the election of new Network Panel Members.
