About 147 students have been awarded various degrees and diplomas by the Accra Business School at its 8th congregation ceremony. 

The graduands consisted of 80 MBA’s, 16 Postgraduate Diplomas in Business Administration and 31 Level 7 Extended Diploma in Students.

Held in Accra at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences, under the theme: ‘The Work-Ready Graduate’, the event brought together the academia and stakeholders in the educational sector.

Guest Speaker was Dr Matthew Owusu Prempeh, Minister of Education who was represented by Mr Nii Adotei Abraham, Head of Corporate Affairs, National Council for Tertiary Education.

Also present to confer the award/degrees was Prof. Mrs Rita Dickson, Pro-Vice Chancellor-KNUST.

Constituting the congregation, Prof. Kwame Omane-Antwi, Chair, Court of Governors of Accra Business School expressed delight to congregate the 8th congregation of awarding various degrees and diplomas to graduates who have been equipped with employable skills relevant to today’s complex market.

The Accra Business School, he observed, has over the years focus on producing a human resource base equipped with the tool of transforming leaders for economic development as such urged the students to go out to the job market and become the gatekeepers of economic management.

Welcoming guests, President of the Institute, Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei was optimistic the Accra Business School’s mission of transforming Ghana’s vast human resource into highly productive human capital is on course.

He said, transforming Ghana’s human resource capital into a highly productive base cannot be left to the private sector alone as such Government should step up its efforts with a vision to develop students with requisite skills to produce successful and appropriate graduate employability as a benefit to all stakeholders.

He explained that a shift of attitude is thus needed to bring about the changes where important stakeholders assume a variety of roles in identifying employable skills, enhancing the mobility of graduates and university faculty and facilitating the transitional phase for new graduates.

Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei announced new developments in 2020 including The enrollment of 70 students to begin its new 12-month MSc in Accounting and Finance, introducing 5 new MSc programmes by first quarter of next year (MSc Public Affairs, MSc Communication and International Marketing, MSc Financial Economics, MSc Digital Marketing and Channel Management and MSc Logistics), open the Accra Doctoral Centre in a facility to be known as ‘Christ Square’ and finally the Accra Business School in collaboration with Westminster Business School will host the African Business Leaders in London Summer School.

Guest Speaker, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Minister of Education, who was represented by Mr Nii Adotei Abraham, Head of Corporate Affairs, National Council for Tertiary Education admitted that tertiary education must produce a highly productive human resource capital as such Government will continue to engage all stakeholders such as the Accra Business School to drive the course.

He lamented on the increase of Graduate unemployment in the country and assured that the Government will continue to introduce innovative programmes to change the status quo.
