The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Kobina Ade-Coker, has donated 27 computers to all constituencies in the region.
The computers, valued at $40,000 dollars, are to facilitate the work of the constituencies, especially in terms of keeping a comprehensive database of supporters.
He explained that the gesture was also to ensure that the party’s support base is properly structured, emphasizing that “as a party it is important we have a record of our members.”
Addressing constituency executives, regional organisers and other members of the party during a brief ceremony at the Greater Accra Regional Minister’s residence, Mr Ade-Coker said it was about time the party employed technology in its work.
He told myjoyonline.com in an interview that he believes the constituencies would be motivated to put the computers to good use.
He charged the leadership in constituencies that lack proper office accommodation to start making arrangements for accommodation. He pledged his readiness to provide assistance in this regard.
Mr Ade-Coker stated that plans are underway to build a state-of-the-art office building for the party in Accra.
