African Finance Business (AFB), one of the leading consumer finance business in Ghana has presented awards to some distinguished schools during the 57th independence Anniversary celebration in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East region.
As part of its corporate social responsibilities, AFB which was the only company that made donations to the outstanding schools, presented cash awards with certificates to OLA Primary School, Sacred Hearts JHS and Bolga Girls SHS for being the best Primary School, Junior High School and Senior High School respectively, after the march past.
After the presentation to the schools, staff of AFB Bolga branch also feted members of Ghana Fire Service and the Ghana Police contingents who participated in the Independence Day activities to some refreshments.
The Regional Police Commander S.Y Afleku expressed his excitement and appreciation and commended AFB for the kind gesture.
The independence anniversary which took place at Ramsey Park in Bolgatanga started around 8:30am with speeches by the Regional Minister, Alhaji Limuna Muniru and the Regional Director of Education Gregory Agana Amoah.
In an interview with the branch manager for AFB in Bolga, Mrs. Augustina Telly, she said AFB recognised the donation as an integral part of its social responsibility and had been involved in this particular celebration since 2013.
She again said AFB believes that the development of innovative financial services products to serve the customers is fundamental to supporting development and empowering individuals in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
She narrated how AFB loans have supported government salary workers during times of emergency. The loans provided have also aided the development of family entrepreneurial activities, supported children in education, enabled the purchase of life-enhancing assets and financed housing projects.
AFB Ghana is a non bank financial institution with presence in over 23 locations in all ten regions across the country. It is part of the AFB Group which undertakes consumer finance operations in Kenya, Mauritius, Zambia and South Africa.
