After replacing injured goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey in Ghana's 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, Fatau Dauda says is just unfortunate Kwarasey had to miss the tournament in such a manner.
Dauda was handed a late call up by coach Avram Grant on Wednesday to replace Rosenburg goalkeeper who Adam Kwarasey who could not join the team due to illness.
The Enugu Rangers goalie who is expected in the team's camp in the UAE today has noted his readiness to fight for a starting place at the Cup of Nations.
“I am very sad for my brother Adam Kwarasey, I was preparing to go to Nigeria and join my team for the pre-season when I had a call to come back to the Black Stars."
“I am not just going there to be a standby goalkeeper, I am going there to fight for a place in the starting team.
“I know all the goalkeepers are good so I have to work hard to secure a starting place.”
