If the 21st century is truly Africa’s, as heralded by many media organisations and intellectuals across the globe, Africa must absolutely welcome a paradigm shift in political leadership.
It is true and refreshing to note that, political leadership in the 21st century is diametrically opposed to that of the 20th century which some attribute to emerging dynamics of globalisation, technological advancement and what is described as a New World Order in global politics.
The emergence of the COVID-19 Pandemic has brought in an unprecedented dynamic to the struggle for political, technological and economic advancement and freedom. The rise of China and Russia and its effects on Africa affairs in the area of commerce, security, political governance, trade, education, industrialization and that of the Western presence and ideological indoctrinations in Africa cannot be overemphasized.
However, since the continent cannot afford to leave in isolation, it must pay detailed attention to the scope of partnerships and foreign direct investment policies we embrace. The quest for immediate gratification and political interest should not override the collective responsibility and commitment towards a free, fair and prosperous society.
There's the need for a reevaluation of our bargaining power- we're not weak in any way and we should have a second-to-none mentality with high sense of integrity and self-worth in every endeavour.
The citizenry should benefit from the resources of the land and have a sense of inclusion and social justice.
Let's be mindful of the fact that Africa is seen as a beautiful Virgin under some sort of pressure from its immediate environment and the external community. Which angle should we turn?
As the youngest continent in demography, its population is predicted to be the largest in the world by 2050 with the biggest mineral deposits and investment prospects.
To have a thriving political setup in our world, there is the necessity for political leaders in Africa to reposition the continent for post-Covid-19 global politics as a true business and investment destination on a win-win scheme.
