Former Vice-President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, and his family spent Christmas Day with hospitalised children at the Ho Regional and Municipal hospitals.
They were accompanied by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for the area, Benjamin Kpodo, as they went around the various wards to interact with the patients and to wish them well.
They presented assorted gifts including fruits, soft drinks, canned fish, biscuits and bags of rice to the children and staff of the hospital.
The gesture, according to Mrs Amissah-Arthur, was in recognition and appreciation of the hard work, dedication and sacrifice of the hospital staff, reports Maxwell Okamafo Addo.
She explained that the donation is an annual rite for them to spend Christmas Day with hospitalised children or orphanages.
The couple particularly visited the children's wards at the hospital where they interacted with the children and presented them with gifts.
Taking the donation on behalf of the Volta Regional Hospital, Medical Director, Dr John Tampuori, thanked the former Vice President and his family for the donation.
He disclosed that very soon the hospital's cardio centre will also be ready to ease the pressure on the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, the country's number one referral centre.
Dr Tampouri believes that with the installation of the equipment, it will bring relief to kidney patients and save them the cost and risk of travelling to Accra weekly for treatment.
He thanked the couple for the gesture and urged them to frequently visit the hospital.
The Dansoman Ebenezer Methodist Church Choir was there to treat the children to some Christmas carols.
