The Deputy CEO of the Ghana Digital Centres Limited (GDCL), Christine Ansong, has touted the government’s efforts in advancing digital innovation and positioning Ghana as a hub for Africa’s technology-driven economy.
Speaking at the close of the first-ever West African edition of GITEX in Lagos, Nigeria, Ms. Ansong highlighted the role of GDCL in supporting the country’s digital transformation agenda through the incubation of startups, the provision of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services, and the creation of digital jobs for the youth.
“At this year’s GITEX, we have brought some of Ghana’s most promising startups to showcase their solutions,” she said.
Ms. Ansong added that “GITEX gives them what every young business needs: visibility, investors, and the chance to grow beyond our borders. And so, if you are a Ghanaian tech startup and you missed this year’s GITEX, I encourage you to join us at the next one.”
She further praised the platform for its unique role in driving collaboration and providing exposure for African startups, stressing that “we want to commend GITEX for building such a powerful stage for collaboration across Africa and beyond.”
The Deputy CEO noted that the government’s broader digital vision, spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization, has set Ghana on course to become a leader in Artificial Intelligence and digital solutions in Africa.
She noted that partnerships, investment, and platforms like GITEX are essential in ensuring that Ghanaian startups can compete on the global stage.
The Nigerian edition of GITEX brought together innovators, investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs from across the continent, offering a launchpad for young businesses to scale up and contribute to Africa’s digital economy.
