Asempa, Joy FM apologise to Mills, Ahwoi

The management of Asempa FM and Joy FM have issued an apology to the president, John Mills and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Mr Ato Awhoi over defamatory comments made by a panelist on both stations. A New Patriotic Party activist John Kumah on Saturday, 23rd July, 2011 edition of the Kukurantumi, broadcast on Asempa FM made the comments about the two personalities which were subsequently aired on Joy FM on Monday, July 25, 2011. A statement issued by the management of the two business units said: “The management of Asempa FM sincerely and unconditionally apologizes to The President and Mr. Ato Ahwoi, their families and friends, for the inadvertent publication of damaging and disparaging information about them and for any injury to their reputation as nationally and internationally respected personalities.” The statement further stated: “This apology extends to all insinuations and innuendoes, which the defamatory statements may give rise to, or could be understood to mean.” “We regret any harm, damage and/or embarrassment the broadcast may have occasioned to The President or Mr. Ato Ahwoi in their reputations, offices, professions and images,” the statement concluded.
