An Accra High Court has granted the Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quayson, a self-recognisance bail of ¢100,000 with one surety.
The MP has also been ordered to deposit his passport with the Registry of the trial Court, Criminal Court 3 Division of the High Court.
The judge presiding the case, Justice Mary Maame Ekua Nsenkyire, had earlier said James Gyekye Quayson cannot be granted a self-recognisance bail due to the nature of the case.
But a lead counsel for the MP, Tsatsu Tsikata, argued that Mr Quayson sacrificed a comfortable life he could have lived in Canada to serve his constituents; hence he is ready to subject himself to the court processes if he’s been summoned properly.

Justice Mary Maame Ekua Nsenkyire ordered the Prosecution to file all disclosures within three weeks and urged the accused person to file responses and witness statements he intends to rely on should a prima facie case be made against him.
James Gyakye Quayson, who appeared in court for the first time since the suit was initiated against him, pleaded not guilty to charges including forgery, the deceit of a public officer, knowingly making a false declaration and perjury.
The case has been adjourned to March 15.

A resident of the constituency Michael Ankomah Nimfah who initiated the action against the MP at the High Court, has sought the intervention of the Supreme Court to stop the MP from performing Parliamentary duties.
That matter remains pending as court officials have been unable to serve the legislator with the court processes.
The Attorney-General’s Office this year filed criminal charges against the legislator.
