Students from several schools in Tema gathered at the pool on Saturday, March 14, for the maiden edition of the Tema Inter-Schools Swimming Competition (TESCOM) at the Jaydens Palace pool.
The event was to encourage young learners to embrace swimming and develop confidence through sport.
The competition, themed “Every Swimmer is a Winner,” featured 86 swimmers drawn from both primary and secondary schools across the Tema community.
Six schools competed for points, including Aves International Academy, Creative Kids Academy, High International Standard School (HISS), ANJEF International School, Palms International School and Peak Lyceum.

Tema Seals Swim Academy also participated but did not compete for points.
At the end of the event, Aves International Academy emerged as the overall winners with 140 points, finishing ahead of the other participating schools.
For many of the young athletes, the event was their first experience in a structured swimming competition.
It is understood TESCOM, organized by Obedeka Adjei, will continue to serve as a platform to promote healthy competition among schools while helping young swimmers build friendships and confidence through sport.
