President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Okraku, has called on referees to strive for higher standards following what he describes as a "few concerning incidents" in domestic competitions.
His comments come after some controversial calls in the Ghana Premier League.
One of the most talked-about moments was Kotoko’s disallowed goal against Bibiani GoldStars at Dun’s Park, a decision taken by referee Julian Nunoo.
"Yes, I am also concerned about some of the few incidents that has been occurring,” Kurt told GFA Communications.
"I say few in relation of the quantum of games that are played every week over the entire duration of the season.
"It is very important that we pay attention to those situations because we want a perfect situation even though we know as human as we are, there will always be wrong calls being made.
"The role of the FA is to make sure that there is continuous training for our referees [and] to provide them with the enabling environment."
Meanwhile, referee Daniel Laryea is Ghana’s most highly regarded official, having officiated at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
