Hundreds of people from all over the country, have been thronging Agogo, home-town of Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, who passed away on Wednesday morning in South Africa, to mourn with his family. The usual hustle and bustle in the township of Agogo, have given way to solemnity and quietness but with mourning and wailing following the news of the death of Mr Baah-Wiredu.Residents in the area broke down with uncontrollable tears, as they were seen gathered in groups in astonishment and talking among themselves what might have caused the sudden death of the Minister of State.Others were also seen wailing along the streets amidst tooting of car horns by taxi drivers most of whom had adorned their vehicles with red bands to signify their sympathies. The principal streets of the town were closed to give way to traffic for visiting friends and sympathizers, who have travel far and near to offer their condolences to the bereaved family.People who the late Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North, supported in whatever form and way during his service nation, especially students and business people, also came to mourn. The situation was not different in the Kumasi Metropolis as most people became devastated when they heard the news for the first time. Some claimed they never heard of or saw the late Baah-Wiredu sick.An artisan at Suame Magazine expressed shock at the news saying he personally liked Mr Baah-Wiredu for his humility, affability and condescending nature.Source: GNA
