The Acting General Secretary of the Financial Employees Union Mr. Mingle mentioned in connection with extortion of money involving former workers of Asare Original Pay All, the Labour Commission and the Ghana Federation of Labour has denied the accusation of collecting monies from the former workers of Asare Original Pay All in order to retrieve unpaid salaries from management.
The salaries of about 80 workers of Asare Original Pay All, a private lotto operator had not been paid for months running into over one billion cedis.
The workers has therefore petitioned the labour commission through the Financial Services Employees Union an affiliate of the Ghana federation of labour
Ben Mingle has categorically stated that the allegation is in bad taste and targeted at tarnishing his image and that of the labour commission.
His claims are being supported by some former employees who are alleged to have paid the monies.
But some unnamed petitioners say the workers were made to contribute to pay three officers of the labour commission, the Chairman, the Administrative Officer and the Head of Legal as well as Mr. Mingle who leads the union that negotiated on behalf of the workers for addressing their concern.
The petitioners who describe themselves only as concerned officials from the Ghana Federation of Labour wants the Employment Minister, to investigate the matter which they describe as unethical and inhuman.
speaking to Joy business report Mr. Mingle said he did not extort monies from the former workers but explains that the workers catered for his transportation costs
Some of the former workers of Asare Original Pay All were at the offices of Joy FM to also deny the allegation.
The spokesperson of the Group Irene Imprem said they took up the transport cost of officials of the financial services employee union because they were not formal members of the union and were therefore not paying dues.
Meanwhile the Chairman of the Labour Commission who has also denied the accusation has called on the Employment Minister to institute a thorough investigation into the matter.
