The Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court has remanded two alleged notorious landguards and 12 individuals said to be national security operatives into police custody over a demolition exercise carried out in the Gomoa East District.
The court presided over by Nana Asantewaa Attakorah, remanded the suspects on Friday, February 20, 2025,
The group reportedly stormed the Gomoa Akoti community in the early hours of Thursday, where more than 60 buildings at various stages of completion were pulled down.
Following their arrest by the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command, the accused persons were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, the use of force and violence to obstruct lawful landowners, causing fear and panic, and unlawful destruction of property.

The court declined a bail application by the suspects, citing the seriousness of the alleged offences. They have been remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear before the same court on March 4, 2026.
Reacting to the development, a property owner, Juliana Asane, who was present in court, expressed mixed feelings about the ruling.
“I’m very happy about the outcome of the event. But I’ll be happier if they are finally jailed because I became very terrified about what occurred,” she said.
“I wouldn’t know where they would have taken my siblings to but for the timely arrival of the police,” she added.
Meanwhile, traditional leaders in Gomoa Akoti have appealed to the police to step up operations in the area, alleging that some landguards appear to be regrouping and attempting to resume their activities.
