The National under 20 team the Black Satellites were held to pulsating 1-1 score line by Cameroon in the opening day of the African Youth Championship in Rwanda.
The Satellites were stunned with just 30 seconds into play when Jaques Zoua capitalized on poor defensive clearance and fired low to the corner beating Daniel Aboagye in post for the Satellites.
The Cameroonians looked even more ominous relying more on their strength and power, but the skillful satellites hanged on at least for the opening 15 minutes.
The Satellites lifted up their game with skipper Andre Ayew and Dominic Ahdiyah asserting themselves and giving the Cameroonian defense a run for their money.
Dominic Ahdiyah after cutting through the Cameroonian defense with a stupendous one-two with Gladson Awako, had the goal keeper staring at him, but refused to go for glory.
Attempting to selfless, he wasted the glorious opportunity for the Satelites.
The Satellites piled more pressure on the Cameroonian defense with rampaging runs on the right by Samuel Inkoom and David Addy on the left, but Cameroonians dealt well with the crosses that came in from the flanks.
Skipper Dede Ayew in the 37th minute got the priceless equalizer for the Satelites when he soured above his markers to head home an immaculate cross from Ransford Osei from the left.
Abeiku Quansah also failed to put the Satellites ahead when his poorly connected goal bound shot was saved on the line by the Cameroonian goalkeeper.
The Cameroonians started the second half stronger, probing for the second goal but the Ghanaian defense remained resolute.
Dodgy calls by assistant referee denied what could easily have been the winning goal by the Black Satellites.
On two occasions striker Ransford Osei was flagged offside with the second appearing to be a legitimate goal which was disallowed.
The Black Satellites takes on Mali on Wednesday, after they were beaten 2-1 by host Rwanda in the opening game of the tournament.
