A 47-year-old farmer at Atebubu Amantin in the Brong Ahafo Region was killed Sunday by persons suspected to be nomadic herdsmen.
According to reports, the deceased, Samuel Fusieni, went to his farm at Boliga Nkwanta to prevent cattle from destroying his yam farm when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Wife of the deceased, Amina Samale, who witnessed the gruesome murder in an interview with Adom News’ Koofori Bossu Denkye said her husband was gunned down by unknown assailants when he attempted to drive the cows out of his farm.
“The Fulani herdsmen opened fire on my husband for preventing the cows from chewing his yam,” the distraught widow said in Twi.
Madam Samale is calling on the police to as a matter of urgency investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book.
Also, mother of the deceased, Madam Damata wept uncontrollably when she heard the sudden demise of her son.
The 87-year-old mother said Samuel Fusieni her only son was the breadwinner of the family.
Madam Damata is anticipating hard times following the death of her son.
Residents in the area have vowed to retaliate following the incessant killing of indigenes by herdsmen suspected to be Fulanis.
Meanwhile, Atebubu-Amantin District Police Commander, Superintendent Edward Konyer says a post-mortem is being carried out to establish the cause of death.
