The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has expressed satisfaction with the preparations of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Cote D’Ivoire towards the maiden edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
At a meeting held last week by CAF, President Alhaji Issa Hayatou said the high level of organisation by the LOC was indication that the continent was prepared for other international events.
He added that the level of preparations exhibited by the local organisers will serve as a landmark for future editions.
Alhaji Hayatou also praised the Ivorian government for their support towards the competition.
Jacques Anouma, Chairman of the LOC assured CAF that the competition will proceed smoothly without any hitches since his outfit has put in place the appropriate structures for a successful competition.
He added that the Ivorian government led by President Laurent Gbagbo has provided the needed support for the organization of a successful championship that will have lasting memories in the minds of football lovers across the globe.
Eight teams including hosts Cote d’Ivoire are competing in the maiden edition of the tournament, the newest of the CAF calendar.
