Some car rental companies say the Ghana at 50 Secretariat has not paid them for services they delivered at the climax of Ghana’s golden jubilee celebrations.
The companies were contracted individually by the Secretariat to provide vehicles and drivers to chauffeur the visiting dignitaries. Owners of the companies, who prefer to remain anonymous, say they provided 25 Mercedes Benz and cross country vehicles for 11 days at a cost of 25,000 dollars.
They say the Secretariat has refused to pay them their monies. According to them they are becoming impatient and frustrated by the Secretariat’s inaction.
When contacted, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana at 50 Secretariat, Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby promised that the issues are being looked into and funds would be released as soon as they are cleared.
In a related development, some 400 people who were ushers at the Ghana As One gala night say they are yet to be paid.
The Ghana As One program was held about two months ago but the ushers say all their attempts to get their money have not yielded any result.
