The committee set up by president Mills to review the controversial Chinery Hesse report has completed its work.
The report was received on behalf of the president by the chief of staff Martey Newman.
Deputy information minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa told Joy News the president is perusing the document for the consideration of Parliament.
President Mills earlier this year set up the committee to review the controversial emolument package for ex-government functionaries.
The report of the approval of ex-gratia package for former the former officials, including ex-President Kufuor attracted an avalanche of criticism from a section of the public who said the emoluments were lavish.
The review committee’s report may have come just in time as it follows closely on the heels of statement by Mr Kufuor that he would only receive an emolument package blessed by Parliament.
This was after National Security had demanded keys to the former president’s Ridge office complex.
The Mary Chinery-Hesse Committee originally recommended that the former president be entitled to two houses, six fully insured vehicles – fueled and chauffeur driven, to be replaced every four years.
The committee also recommended a once-a-year all-expenses-paid oversees travel, a non-taxable pension and a $1million-dollar seed money for a non-governmental organisation.
The report of the review committee however is expected to be thoroughly debated in Parliament followed by an onward submission to the president for assent.
