To promote environmental cleanliness in the area, the Church of Pentecost at Mampong in the Ashanti Region has trained its members through plastic waste management training.
The step, according to the church, is aimed at ensuring environmental cleanliness in its operational areas.
Rev. Samuel Kwabena Asare, the church's Mampong area head, stated that the initiative is part of plans to eliminate plastic waste in Ghana in order to reduce some of the health issues associated with it.
He also stated that it aims to recycle plastic waste in order to create jobs and boost the local economy.

"The church of Pentecost wants to do away with plastic wastes in Ghana to keep our environment clean in order to prevent the health challenges it comes with," he said.
Mr. Asare also stated that it is the church's responsibility to ensure that the country is clean, as stated in the Bible, rather than focusing solely on the spiritual aspect. He added that the step is part of the Church's annual activities aimed at addressing some pertinent societal challenges faced by citizens.

He stated that collective responsibility is one of the most important ways to effectively recycle plastic waste, and that the public should learn how to properly channel waste to the proper places rather than indiscriminate dumping.
Mr. Bediako also stated that the company is currently collaborating with various institutions, such as churches, schools, and health facilities, among others, to ensure that plastic waste is properly recycled at their recycling plant.

Some members who spoke with Joynews praised the church for its efforts to promote good hygiene and sanitation in Ghana.
They urged their colleagues to practice environmental stewardship by avoiding indiscriminate dumping.
