Deputy Campaign Manager of the of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr Mustapha Hamid has debunked claims by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of fixing power crisis that hit the country in 2015-2016 before leaving office.
At a press briefing on Monday, Dr Mustapha Hamid said the NDC's claim of resolving the power crisis before exiting office cannot be accurate judging from statistics available.
According to him, it was the Akufo-Addo led government that fixed the crisis when it took over from the NDC administration in 2017
“So soon people have forgotten that for three years we slept in darkness. For three years businesses in this country had collapsed because of dumsor."
The Zongo and Development Minister then advised Ghanaians not to forget about the dreaded ‘dumsor’ period which crippled many businesses including the nation’s economy.
"We have taken the new comfort for granted and have forgotten that it has not always been like this. It has taken the vision and conviction of President Akufo-Addo to restore the dignity and sanity of our country and its people”.
Dr Mustapha Hamid further gave a breakdown of the number of power outages from the year 2015 to 2017.
“NDC did not resolve dumsor as they've been touting because in 2015, there were 886 hours 44 minutes of power outages, 41 hours 7minutes power outages in 2017 and so it cannot be true that NDC resolved dumsor," Dr Hamid explained.
In view of this, he, therefore, called on Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP coming 7 December.
