Ibrahim Dossey, the Ghanaian goalkeeper who died on Tuesday of a heart attack following injuries sustained in a car accident, would be buried in Romania on Thursday. Quick arrangements were being made for the body to be flown to Accra for burial in accordance with Islamic tradition but the family has opted to bury him in the town where he lived with his wife and daughter. His body has been sent to the town of Hrisova from the hospital in the Romanian capital Bucharest where he died after being in coma for three months. He will be laid to rest by the chief Imam of Hrisova as he was the town's high profile Muslim public figure in the place he lived with his wife and 4-year-old daughter. Last minute plans were being made for a family member from Ghana to travel for the burial but visa delays thwarted the move. Petr Gavrilla, the Romanian former coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, who helped Dossey to land his first contract in the country, is also travelling from Bucharest to Hrisova as the goalkeeper's 'father' ahead of the burial. Dossey suffered a heart attack, however, on Tuesday morning and doctors were unable to resuscitate him. Born in Accra in 1972, Dossey moved to Romania eight years ago, where he played for FC Brasov, Rapid Bucharest, Unirea Sannicolau Mare and Pandurii Targu Jiu. "Dossey was the type of player that any coach and club owner would want," FC Brasov chairman Dinu Gheorghe said. "He was admirable from all points of view. "Nobody had to pull him to make him work. There was nothing you could reproach him for." Dossey was a key member of Ghana's historic under-23 team that won Africa's first Olympic football medal, at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992. He agreed a two-year contract extension with Targoviste just days before he was involved in the accident. The shot-stopper fell into a coma on 13 September after the accident.
