The Chancellor of the Cape Coast Technical University and the Executive Chairman of JL Holdings, a leading Ghanaian real estate company, Dr. James Orleans-Lindsay, has been announced as the keynote speaker for the highly anticipated Africa Rising Symposium, to be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the United Kingdom.
Organised by the Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa at LSE, in partnership with EMY Africa, the symposium is themed: “Beyond Potential: Africa’s Age of Performance.”
Dr. Orleans-Lindsay who is a celebrated Ghanaian business leader and education advocate is expected to deliver a thought-provoking keynote address titled “Building Beyond Rhetoric”, reflecting his decades of experience in the real estate industry, business leadership, and youth empowerment.
His selection as keynote speaker reflects growing international recognition of African leaders who are championing transformation through pragmatic leadership, visionary policy advocacy, and private-sector innovation.
The Africa Rising Symposium will convene African policymakers, entrepreneurs, scholars, and development actors to interrogate the continent’s progress and challenge institutions and individuals to move “beyond potential” into measurable performance.
“Africa must not only rise, we must deliver. This symposium is an opportunity for us to define the next chapter of our continent’s development through action, not promises,” Dr. Orleans-Lindsay said in a pre-event statement.
The event will take place at the Sheikh Zayed Theatre at LSE and is open to the public via registration. It also forms part of a broader agenda by EMY Africa to celebrate and elevate African excellence globally.
