Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw, Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency and Chairman of the Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs Committee, is currently in Nairobi, Kenya, attending the CGIAR Science Week.
His participation comes at the invitation of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), as part of efforts to bridge the gap between scientific research and agricultural policy.
Dr Jasaw is playing a key role in shaping the newly introduced CGIAR Policy Champions Network, which seeks to strengthen the connection between research and policy formulation in agriculture and food systems.

His contribution is expected to draw on his extensive experience in sustainable food systems, aiming to foster more evidence-based decision-making within national and international agricultural policy spaces.
Over the course of the event, Dr Jasaw will engage with fellow policy practitioners from more than 26 countries.

Together, they will identify priority research needs within national agricultural sectors, while exploring collaborative approaches to improve food security, resilience, and innovation across global food systems.
These discussions are set to play a crucial role in advancing integrated policy solutions that are informed by scientific data.
Dr Jasaw’s involvement underscores Ghana’s commitment to science-led agricultural development and its active role in global dialogues on food systems transformation.
As Chairman of Parliament’s Agric and Cocoa Affairs Committee, his insights are expected to add significant value to the CGIAR’s initiatives aimed at reinforcing science-policy integration for sustainable agricultural outcomes.
