A 24 year old farmer, Felix Wayo Padi, has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour by a Koforidua Magistrate's Court. The convict pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful entry and stealing. Giving the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Eric Twum Frimpong, told the court presided over by Ms Priscilla Yeboah, that the complainant is a physiotherapist at the St Joseph Hospital and resides at Nkurakan near Koforidua. He said on November 11, the complainant locked the door to his house and left for work in the morning. Inspector Frimpong said at about 10am a witness in the case, who is the complainant's neighbour, heard an unusual noise from the complainant's house. The witness then went to find out what was happening and saw that the convict had broken into the complainant's room and was loading some items into a sack. Inspector Frimpong said on seeing the witness the convict took to his heels with the sack loaded with the items. He said the witness then shouted for help and that attracted the youth of the area who gave the convict a chase and arrested him in a thick bush together with the items. The items comprised two DVD players, a set of jewellery, one pen drive, two pieces of cloth, cash of GH¢ 5 and a pinch bar, he used in breaking the door. He said the youth subjected the convict to some beating before handing him over to the police for investigation.
