The Food and Drugs Authority has recalled a number of batches of the Ceres 100% Apple Juice due to the results of laboratory tests that confirmed the presence of high levels of mycotoxin-patulin than the regulatory threshold.
Information in this regard was received from the International Food Safety Network (INFOSAN) and the manufacturer of the product, Pioneer Foods Groceries (Pty) Limited, South Africa.
In a statement, the FDA stated that, most of the affected batches have been retrieved, including all the 1 Litre pack sizes.
The regulatory body said its Market Surveillance team is working with the producers to remove all the affected products in trade. The FDA therefore called on persons in possession of the recalled products to return them to any of the depots of Transmed Ghana Limited nationwide or any FDA office.
The affected products include; Ceres Apple 4x6x200ml Tetrapak, Ceres Apple Sparkling 275ml glass and Ceres Apple 12x1L
