Former President Jerry John Rawlings will not be attending the National Delegates Congress being organised by the United Cadre Front (UCF) slated for Kumasi at the weekend, a statement from his office said on Friday.
The statement issued in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra was in reaction to a news report attributed to the UCF on Thursday stating that the former Head of State has been invited for the congress.
“The report by the United Cadre Front is false. The... public is informed that President Rawlings has not accepted an invitation from United Cadre Front and will not be attending the meeting in Kumasi.
“We wish to caution institutions and organisations that send invitations to the Former President not to issue statements to the media confirming his acceptance of such invitations when he has not done so,” the statement said.
Flt Lt Rawlings asked the media to crosscheck with his office to confirm any statement or programme involving him.
