Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Tawiah III, on Sunday called on people to take advantage of the opening of the voters’ register on July 31 to register to enable them to exercise their franchise in the December election.
“It is the responsibility of every Ghanaian who has attained 18 years to vote and help choose a person who would help develop the country,” Nii Tackie Tawiah said at a durbar held at Amasaman to end the 3rd Annual Homowo School.
The Annual Homowo School seeks to deepen democratic governance and effective participation in decision making and implementation in districts, municipal and metropolitan areas.
He appealed to traditional leaders to harmonise opportunities in traditional governance for local and national development and to do away with land litigation since it could stall development of the area.
Nii Tackie Tawiah said the only tool that could bring peace and harmony was unity and urged the people not to sell their lands but to enter into joint ventures with investors.
Nii Tetey Okpe II, President of Ga West Chiefs Association, called on the Ga State to respect their kings to create the needed platform to bring traditional rulers and their subjects together for development.
Mr Stephen Owusu-Afriyie, Municipal Chief Executive of Ga South Municipal Assembly, said the youth needed to be supported to take on new challenges of socio-economic development to ensure national progress.
He charged on participants of the 3rd Annual Homowo School to be at the forefront of the struggle for peace and stability in their various communities.Source: GNA
