The GCB Bank PLC has climaxed its 70th anniversary with a thanksgiving service at the Accra International Conference Center (AICC).
The event themed, “Thanking God For 70 Years of Providing Unrivaled Financial Solutions to the Socio-Economic Development of Ghana” brought together the bank’s management, staff, shareholders, former staff, and customers.
Delivering the welcome address at the service on Sunday, the Managing Director, Kofi Adomakoh, highlighted the bank’s journey over the past seventy years, emphasising resilience, growth, and gratitude.
Acknowledging both triumphs and challenges, Mr Adomakoh noted that the two have equally propelled the GCB Bank to greater heights.
“Our journey has not always been smooth, but it is in moments of difficulties and uncertainty that we have seen the most profound growth and development. Our resilience has forged our character and strengthened our resolve to serve our customers, communities, and our country - Ghana with integrity and excellence,” he said.
Reflecting on the bank's history, Mr Adomakoh noted that the past seven decades have been marked by significant milestones and achievements.
These experiences, according to him, have not only contributed to the bank's growth but also provided valuable lessons that have fortified its foundation.
He attributed the bank's success to the dedication and commitment of its staff, the trust of its customers, and the guidance of its leaders and regulators.
“In the spirit of thanksgiving, we are reminded of the importance of gratitude. Being thankful is not merely about recognizing our successes but also acknowledging the sacrifices made along the way.
“It is easy to be grateful when times are good, but true gratitude shines brightest in moments of adversity,” he stated.
Mr. Adomakoh further expressed profound appreciation for the values of perseverance, unity, and faith that have been integral to the bank's journey.
He acknowledged the continuous blessings and guidance from God, which have served as a beacon through both prosperous and challenging times.
Delivering a sermon, the founder of the Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Reverend Eastwood Anaba, described GCB Bank as a financial institution that prioritises the needs of the vulnerable.
“The GCB Bank is a giver and as a giver, the GCB Bank will increase because givers increase. The GCB Bank gives to the people and also gives to the government, supports the government, and collaborates with the government.
“When you see the old women who have gone on their retirement and they are looking for something to sustain themselves, most of the time, it is the GCB Bank they turn to. And I pray that, with what you have done for the aged and the vulnerable in the society, may God pour down His blessings on this bank,” he prayed.
He also advised staff not to rush into leaving the bank for higher salaries offered by competitors.
