The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned an assault on a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School and assured the public that those responsible will face full punitive action.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 10, and signed by Daniel FenyĆ, Head of Public Relations at GES, the service said it had seen a video circulating on social media showing Mr Michael Quayson, a teacher at the school, being attacked by a group of past students.
According to the statement, the Management of GES requested and received an early report on the matter. The report showed that the incident happened on 5 October 2025.
The statement explained that the former students allegedly assaulted the teacher ābecause he was strict on them during the invigilation of the Christian Religious Studies WASSCE 2025 paper.ā
GES said that the school authorities and its own Management were not informed at the time the incident occurred.
āThe issue was not reported to the school authority nor GES Management until the video recording of the assault circulated on social media.ā It added that Management had since taken control of the matter and that āinvestigations are currently ongoing.ā
The Service condemned the attack, describing it as completely unacceptable. āManagement condemns the assault in the strongest terms as such behaviour is unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession,ā the statement said.
GES also assured the public that the perpetrators would face the full consequences of their actions. āThe students shall face the appropriate sanctions provided by law and GES regulations to ensure justice is duly served.ā
The Service further extended reassurance to teachers across the country, noting its commitment to their safety and the need to maintain discipline during examinations. āManagement assures all teachers nationwide of our full support in instilling discipline and ensuring examination integrity,ā it said.
GES encouraged students to remain disciplined and respect school authorities, urging them to avoid acts that undermine the teaching and learning process. āWe urge all students to uphold discipline and respect authority,ā the statement added.
The release was signed by Daniel FenyĆ, Head of Public Relations at GES.
