The Bono East Regional town of Buoyem is an important landmark in the history of the Bono people. This is where they first settled after they were defeated by the Ashantis in the 17th century.
The community though small in size is however rich in history and tourist attractions. It is about 15 km from Techiman, and the name Buoyem literally means “in the belly of the rock”.
Though many people know little about this community, the history of Techiman and the Bono people cannot be complete without a proper frame of reference to the Buoyem community.
