Speaking at the 2026 Local Content Summit in Takoradi, Mahama emphasised the need for digital transformation in the mining sector. He said, “The future of mining is digital, sustainable, and technology-driven.”
He added, “Ghana must become a hub for AI-assisted exploration, for IoT-enabled asset management, for blockchain-based supply chain transparency, and for local R&D Ghana-specific mining challenges.”
On the creation of a national innovation hub, Mahama explained the government’s plans, saying, “We'll explore establishing a national mining innovation and research hub to institutionalise knowledge sharing and technology adaptation.”
He stressed the importance of continuity, adding, “This summit must mark the beginning of a structured ecosystem and not a one-off event.”
