Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has affirmed Ghana’s steady progress under the International Monetary Fund (IMF) support programme, announcing that the country has received a fresh disbursement of US$367 million following the successful completion of its fourth review.
Presenting the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review to Parliament on Thursday, July 24, Dr Forson revealed that a staff-level agreement was reached during the IMF’s fourth review mission in April 2025, with full Executive Board approval granted on 7th July, 2025.
“This unlocked a disbursement of US$367 million, bringing the total disbursement under this programme to US$2.3 billion,” the Minister stated.
According to him, Ghana remains firmly on track with the IMF-supported reforms, which aim to restore macroeconomic stability, rebuild investor confidence, and promote inclusive growth.
He noted that the next IMF review, the fifth in the series, is scheduled for September 2025 and will be based on economic data up to June.
“Mr Speaker, I am comfortable that Ghana is on course to achieve most of the targets for the fifth review,” he added.
