The Ghana Police Church has inaugurated a fully equipped computer laboratory at the Police Model Basic School in Kwabenya in celebration of its 60th anniversary.
The new facility, designed to enhance the school’s teaching and learning environment, was made possible through a generous donation of 40 desktop computers worth GH₵100,000 by the Church.
In addition to the computers, the school’s Parents Association and Administration contributed the furniture and fittings needed for the lab to ensure that it was fully functional for the students.
The establishment of the computer lab follows an official request from the school to the Church, seeking support to provide the students with access to modern technology as part of their educational development.
Reverend Superintendent Mrs. Emelia Quist, Chaplain of the Ghana Police Church, emphasized the significance of the project, highlighting the Church’s ongoing commitment to supporting educational empowerment and promoting digital literacy, especially within the police community.
She noted that the new lab was not only a vital resource for the students’ academic success but also an investment in the future workforce of Ghana, helping equip young learners with essential skills for the technology-driven world.
“The newly equipped lab aims to enhance the digital learning experience for students, providing them with essential skills that align with modern educational standards,” she added.
Madam Florence Boamah, the Headmistress of school expressed her gratitude to the Ghana Police Church for its significant contribution to improving ICT teaching and learning at the school.
She commended the Church for the newly established computer laboratory, which she said would better equip the students with the necessary digital skills to keep pace with modern education.
Madam Boamah emphasized that the lab would help prepare students for a digitalized learning environment, enabling them to stay abreast of the evolving education system.
“The lab will not only enhance our students’ academic performance but will also ensure they become technologically and digitally savvy, aligning with the new rollout of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education,” she added.
Madam Boamah called on other philanthropists and organizations to support the school further, particularly in the establishment of a security post to safeguard the premises and deter intruders.
The Police Model Basic School Kwabenya, which was established on October 10, 2023, currently caters to 780 learners, ranging from crèche to Junior High School level.
