Ghanaian premier league clubs risk not participating in any African club competitions like the Champions League and the Confederation Cup from next year if they do not meet certain classification requirements to be implemented by FIFA next year.
The clubs must have regular working staff including non-part-time CEOs, a standard training pitch owned by the clubs, and proper accounting practices in their operations and the standardized way of administering a club comparable to what happens in Europe.
This new system was introduced to Ghanaian football administrators recently at a special course organized by the world governing body.
With this FIFA declaration, Ghanaian clubs can only play in Africa from next year if they meet the requirements.
This means the likes of Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko must fix their homes.
FIFA Instructor for Marketing and Administration, Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe said these requirements are important to grow the game on the continent.
"If we don't build the classification system - the resources as a club, people to enhance our outfit, that we deliver better value to all stakeholders - we'll never make it in African football," he said.
